``Other people go well just with a manual or literature about computer, but why can't you maket it?''
That's what I have heard lots of times, when I was taught how to operate computer.
Such words made me so angry and crazy that I still have doubts about such literatures.
I have tried to subdue my temper to curse or call them by name whenever I heard such irresponsible and unfaithful words.
But I can only protest at most,``You should not say so to your customer.''
Sometimes, I wanted to explode my anger, but I have no choice but to try to take it easy as I am just in low position to be taught by him.
Most of computer-related literatures or books seemed to be written by young writers
seduced by spoiling publihers or written by staff members of the computer salers who have
no abilities to communicate what they want to say.
Enven news media have often said that computer-related brochures or booklets published in Korea are very difficult for common readers to understand.
When I called them for more information, they used to insult me as if
I were a poor student to learn how to use the computer.
When we study in the liberal arts field, we usually can understand its context eventually though we skip over some words or phrases, whereas it was a great trouble for me to learn about the computer for myself without any proper introduction or guide books because it requires 100% accuracy without 1% tolerance.
It seems to me that the unsympathetic, unhuman machine should make a competent person like me incompetent.
Anyway, I, could, even at the age of mid-50's, train myself to become a man of
considerable culure and patience thanks to the computer-learning.
And I thought I could have made it much easier if I had made an earlier plan to target what I do today.
My doubt about the computer made me buy a cheap computer, which gave me much trouble later.
Instead of my second and final son, who had just enlisted in the army, I began sitting at his low
grade computer which I had bought for him at low price.
The old aged man, I started with the graphic course known to be difficult to learn with old cheap computer machine, which my much younger computer-seniors have laughted at...
Their lauhters at me made me so angry and crazy that I would often bang my fist on my
computer machine, causing the display out of order.
I would have to carry the heavy broken machine held in my arms to several repairshops for more than ten times, in spite of pains on my weakened waiste brought by its weight.
Many times, I have had strong disire to give it up, but finally made it thanks to my
not-so-dull brain and my perseverance obtained during my over 20-year reporter career.
My course from the DOS through the Word Process to the Window, adding my favorite photographing to the orderly course, I have been able to achieve stability
in my computer work, which has now become one of my most favorite hobbies, bringing a
new fresh air into my life.
Today I am delightful with my computer as if I found a new bud in an old dead tree.
My own experience tells me again that one can be delighted to overcome one's hardships
and any difficulties just if one has withstood them with one's dreams and courages without
falling into despair or giving it up.
Never fail to keep your dreams and courages.
Now, cheers for myself and for your good luck.
I'd like to raise a toast with a glass of
Corsican Campari brandy.
Good luck! See you again!
With Best regards:
Bea Parea
